When teachers adopt equity-centred assessment, they are better placed to acknowledge and empower learners’ inherent capabilities, their unique cultural identities, and their wide-ranging successes. Using the Hauora Approach to Assessment Framework and a School Journal text Brigit will explore how the concepts of manaakitanga and wānanga can be used to enhance culturally sustaining assessment practices for the benefit of ākonga Māori and all learners.
