NZLA Webinar Sue McDowall How teachers who read create readers

Reading for pleasure is associated with academic achievement and social and emotional benefits. International research identifies the impact of teachers who are themselves readers and bring their values, beliefs, and practices as readers into the classroom in building ākonga enjoyment of reading. But how do they do it?

Join us to hear Sue McDowall share the findings of a small research study carried out by NZCER for the National Library of New Zealand exploring possible connections between the personal reading practices of a small sample of teachers and leaders known as passionate readers and their approaches to reading in their classrooms and schools.
